At Livinspaces, we're always on the look out for indigenous Nigerian projects from home grown talent that really stand out. Call it a Bias, but its a passion that we hold dear. To this end, we met up with a young creative Architect, Mr. Emmanuel Isimoya, the creative director at WOW (create | innovate), a marketing and communications outfit that blends architecture, and corporate branding, an unusual pairing, but supremely necessary in todays world.
Mr.Isimoya, shared with us a recently completed project for
R-Jolad plus Hospital in Gbagada, Lagos. Him and his team of 5 were selected to revamp the property in line with the organisation's desire to differentiate its business and reflect it corporate ideology of being a world class healthcare provider.
The basic idea was to break away from the image traditionally associated with hospitals within the country and deliver an imaginative, somewhat bespoke design for the interior spaces. This would not only provide an attractive facility for customers and patients but also elevate the Hospital's Brand.
Stepping in to the reception, you can tell that some level of thought went into the space. A meticulous approach to design was employed as is evident in the attention to detail and quality of work. The wall treatment, furniture selection and even layout, provide a comfort that is not a usual feature in most hospitals. From the reception, a spacious hallway leads you to the elevator lobby, both carrying
a strong contemporary aesthetic with subtle accents of pattern and decor elements. This lets you know that this hospital is for the discerning, and I won't be too far off to suggest that as the intention of both client and Mr. Isimoya's team.

All 1,150sq m of the hospital were carefully fitted to carry the same aura and ambiance
, most especially the 17 in-patient wards, classified into VIP, Deluxe and Standard. Each ward is equipped with the state of the art fully automated Stryker S 300 patient bed and reclined relaxer seat for complete patient comfort.
Supporting seating within the wards offer elegant comfort as opposed to the clinical approach that has, unfortunately, become an 'industry standard'. The mood lighting is also very soothing, and dare i say, regardless of ailment, you are sure to 'get-well-soon' in hospital wards of this standard.

The thought process and styling of the spaces within the hospital is reminiscent of high-end boutique hotels, boasting of luxury and elegance, which offers a departure from typical, generic health care facilities and accomodations, offering a true home at the hospital.
Truly said, interior designing has now a days lot of scope not only in designing for house or office but the requirement of interior designer is required in each and every sector of industry.
